  Camp Coat

Few garments get as much use as a warm jacket, so we put some thought into our Camp Coat. First we considered the importance of cooking. Nothing starts a day in camp like the sight of orange flames licking a coffee pot, or the sound of sputtering bacon. Because synthetics don't really dig fire, we sculpted our rugged wool fabric into an eye-pleasing shape. Then we got rid of the separating zippers so common on outdoor clothing. You can do a lot to safeguard their vulnerable moving parts, but they always fail in the end. We use durable stainless steel snaps for the main closure, and anchor them in nylon webbing to ensure a lifetime of service. Our snaps absorb plenty of abuse, and they let you tailor your ventilation to meet your needs.

The Camp Coat is fully articulated to let you move naturally. The front panels and collar flow into one smooth piece that we line with recycled polyester fleece for added insulation and a forgiving texture. Two zippered hand warmer pockets fill the lower panels. Dual chest pockets open from the center so you can still use them with a pack. The waist draw cord adjusts from inside the pockets to seal out drafts. Our simple rolled cuffs are wide enough to fit over a glove, but they have snaps to pinch them down a bit for a better fit. Fully articulated elbows and shoulders offer a more natural and mobile fit. The longer tail covers you assets on the bike or a damp park bench. Optional Elk leather elbow patches laugh off abuse with panache. Olive Green color comes with low-viz black snaps to maintain a low profile.

Fabric: 20 ounce imported wool/nylon (80/20 percent by weight) and 14 ounce domestic recycled polyester fleece. Domestic Elk leather elbow patches Colors: Olive Green, Navy Blue, Forest Green, or Burgundy. Leather colors will vary. Sizes SM-XL. Machine or hand wash cold, gentle cycle with mild soap, air dry, expect lint. Treat leather with conditioner to keep it supple.

Consider the Camp Coat as a replacement for the average, heavyweight fleece jacket. You'll get the same range of motion, the same room for layering, and the same utility, with a bit of extra heft. It's more truck-like than the leading edge sports coupe from the other guys.

To find your size, you can compare these dimensions taken from a completed product, laid flat, and not stretched. They represent a conservative estimate. Should you find a torso size that matches you needs but the length does not, ask about a custom fitted garment. Custom fitting may incur patterning and material expense.
