Arctic Anorak
'Round here terms like ice chisel,
winter camping, and sub zero make us feel all warm and
giggly. Yeah, cold weather adds some extra prep work to your day,
but there's no grass to mow, the bears aren't
rousting the dumpsters, and there isn't much riff-raff on the sidewalks
above 45°N. Some unique types relish a good cold snap, and we
offer our finest work for them. The tight weave of our pre-shrunk 7 ounce
organic Cotton Canvas completely defeats the wind that robs warm air from
your insulation layers. But more importantly, it allows your body's own
perspiration to escape so you stay dry and comfortable.
We're proud to offer this ages-old idea
with a contemporary fit and finish. The modified Raglan sleeves
encourage plenty of movement. The generous cut lets you reach just
about anything. The long
skirt protects the muscle mass in your seat and thighs. Our zippered and
bellowed chest pocket is stitched high enough that you may use an
external sash around your waist. It has a reach through port for
accessing gear or water bottles from your inner layers. Our cuffs seal
with hook and loop tabs, and slide inside the gauntlets of our True
North Mitts. We even slip a few Delrin loops under the armpits
to anchor your mitten leashes.
The generous hood adjusts for depth and
circumference, so you'll find the perfect fit, whether you're wearing a
helmet or a just a toque. When the wind howls you can cinch the visor
cord with a single hand. We've stitched a separating zipper along the
rim to add a fur ruff for those brisk afternoons when you're locked in a
battle of wills with a torpid lunker. Ruffs are interchangeable between
our Parkas and Anoraks. We can build one here, or convert one of your
pelts to work on our shell. The interior of the visor has a
light layer of poly fleece so your breath won't form an ice cave around
your face. The stovepipe neck closes with a slightly offset zipper for
great access. We take care to color coordinate all the hardware and
cordage with the fabric to reduce your silhouette in the wintry world. Fabric:

A word about fit. Our canvas winter shells are not fashionable. They are
not flattering. They are not fitted. They're walking tents with room for
air to circulate around your insulation so it can work at maximum
efficiency. We build them to be part living room, part bathroom stall,
part bivouac. They're long enough to cover your butt and pull your hand
in if you lose a mitten. You should even be able to wiggle your arms
inside to add or drop layers without exposure. |
